1. How is SayNow different from other communication channels?

The past few years have seen explosive growth in online services built for communicating with large groups - simple email lists, sophisticated websites and social networking sites provide vital channels for you to stay in touch with your fans and friends. However, these channels generally require you to be online at a computer. They also tend to rely primarily on text and can be impersonal.

SayNow's service is built around the phone and designed to be more personal and accessible than online services. Your fans can instantly subscribe to get your broadcast messages on their phone (i.e. from a concert or a friend's house) and can also listen to your messages from anywhere!

2. What are the most important benefits of using SayNow?
• Instantly reach and grow your fan base. SayNow makes it easy for people to subscribe to your broadcasts from their cell phone so they can instantly join from a concert or any other event. They'll also be able to easily recruit their friends to join from anywhere!
• Increase awareness and loyalty. You can easily broadcast short personal messages for your fans about tour dates, new content, merchandise, promotions, anything you want! They'll hear what you have to say in your own voice which is far more powerful than email or other impersonal channels. Your fans can also send messages to one another, which can help you build an even stronger community.
• Gain instant feedback and learn from fans. If you're registered, we'll let you know how many people subscribed to your broadcasts, where they're located (based on area code), how often they listen to your messages and some general demographic information on your registered fans. Because your subscribers are pretty likely your most loyal fans, you can use their poll responses to make important decisions about tour planning and to receive creative feedback.
• Allow your fans to instantly purchase things over the phone. Your fans can easily purchase ringtones, downloads, concert tickets, or merchandise by pushing a button on their phone. And if you decide to include advertising, you can share in the revenue that advertisers pay for placement in your broadcasts.
3. How do I use SayNow?
• Register. First, register with SayNow. You'll get a set of tools that includes a phone number for broadcasting to your fans and a unique name that allows people to subscribe to your broadcasts by texting it to SayNow (729669). You can put your SayNow username on all of your marketing material (concert signs, t-shirts, postcards, etc.) so fans will know how to subscribe to your broadcasts. You'll also get a badge you can easily cut and paste into your website so people can leave messages or subscribe to your broadcasts from the web.
• Record. Record a message for your fans from your phone by calling your SayNow number or by uploading a recording (MP3 file) from your computer. It's that easy.
• Plan. SayNow provides analytical tools so you can see the size and location of your fan base and plan things like your tour schedule. You can even create polls to collect feedback and sell merchandise, among other things.
4. How will my fans use SayNow?
• Subscribe. Your fans can subscribe to your broadcasts by texting your username to SAYNOW (729669) or by clicking on your SayNow badge from the web and entering their phone number. Certain users will also get a phone number that fans can call to subscribe.
• Get Notified. Your fans can choose to get a text message, a phone ring, or email whenever you send a message. If they choose to get text messages or email, the message will also show a phone number they can dial to listen to your message.
• Listen & Respond. They'll be able to listen to your message on their phone (or computer), send a reply or respond to a poll by pressing a key on their phone.
5. Will I be charged for calling a SayNow number?

No! SayNow is free and you definitely won't be charged by us for calling a SayNow number. However, if you call from your cell phone, your cell phone carrier may charge standard rates for the minutes you use and any text messages you receive, depending on your cell phone plan. If you call from a landline you may be charged standard long distance rates depending on who you call.

6. Your service is free? That can't be right. How do you make money?

SayNow wants to provide the best way for entertainers to stay in touch with fans. For that reason, we want fan clubs to grow without charging fans or the entertainer. We plan to integrate advertising into SayNow to pay for the service, and will be asking entertainers to help us decide on appropriate ads and sponsors. These ads might promote ringtones, concert tickets, or allow fans to learn about events in their area. We can't promise that we won't charge for the service in the future, but even if we do, beta users will receive substantial discounts.

7. I smell SPAM - will you sell my number? Or give it away? Or call me during dinner?

Nope. Never. We don't like telemarketers. And we don't like being interrupted by calls we didn't ask for. You'll only get messages from people you want to receive messages from. And we take the privacy of your phone number very seriously - so NO ONE will ever get your number.

8. How do I cancel my account?

9. What happens if someone enters a random phone number when trying to leave me a message?

If someone enters the wrong phone number, the recipient of the call can simply ignore it. Or we tell them that they can permanently stop SayNow from calling them by hitting the star key on their phone (*). We want to make sure we aren't accidentally harassing people.

10. What does creating a SayNow account get me? What can I do if I register?

First, you don't have to register with SayNow to listen to broadcasts or leave messages. Registering gives you additional capabilities like access to your messages online, the ability to leave voice messages and broadcast to your friends, and to get your own SayNow badge.

11. Do I need a mobile phone to use SayNow?

No, you can use any U.S. phone number. But make sure you don't pick text message notifications if you use a landline. If you're registered, you can change this in your account. Or you can hit 7 while on the phone.

Sending Messages

1. I want my own SayNow number. How do I get one?

Everyone who signs up with SayNow gets a personal text-in code that lets fans record and subscribe to their messages. You can get a personal SayNow number once you have over 1,000 fans. We also give dedicated numbers to people with unique or creative projects. Get in touch with us if that's you!

2. What's a broadcast message?

A broadcast message is a message you can send to ALL your subscribers by calling your SayNow number. Your SayNow number will be on the home page once you login.

3. I want to leave a SayNow message for someone on MySpace. Will they see my phone number?

Nope that's the whole point. Your number is always kept private. You don't see their number and they don't see yours!

4. I want to broadcast a message to my fans. Will they see my number?

Nope, can you imagine that - yikes. Your number is protected at all times. Your fans will see your SayNow number which they can use to leave you messages and you'll get notified based on what you chose when you registered.

5. How can SayNow help me stay in touch with my fans?

Using SayNow, you can leave audio messages for your fans, which can be more personal and creative than text messages. And your fans can leave messages for you. Most fans tell us they've never heard the "real voice" of the artist they love. And it can be amazing to hear your fans' voices. We're in the business of connecting fans and artists.

6. I tried to register and the service did not call me back to activate. What do I do now?

Once you finish completing the registration form, you should see a button to "call" and activate your account. If this button doesn't appear, you may need to register again. Try using the latest version of Internet Explorer or Firefox.

If the web page says it's calling you but your phone doesn't ring, you can hit retry. Make sure your phone has signal and is receiving calls.

7. Can I delete messages I've already heard?

8. Can I send a message to all my fans at once or do I have to respond to them one at a time?

SayNow can be used to respond to one, some, or all of your fans. Broadcasting to more than one person is now available if you have been invited to join the service.

9. What is a SayNow badge? What can I do with it? How do I get one?

Your SayNow badge is the code you put on your MySpace page that allows your fans to send you voice messages. Users clicking on your SayNow badge will receive a call-back on their phone prompting them to record a message for you. The badge can also be used to receive your broadcasts. You will need to sign up for an account with SayNow to get your own personal SayNow badge.

Receiving Messages

1. You keep sending me text messages! How do I make you stop?!

If you're a registered user you can login to your SayNow account and change your notification preferences under the "Account" tab. If you're not registered, call your SayNow number and press the seven (7) key on your phone. You can choose to have your phone ring instead when there's a new message, or you can choose to get no notifications at all. If you register with SayNow, you can also choose to get email notifications. Registering is easy and free.

2. I'm getting indecent / undesirable messages from certain user, how do I block them?

You can press the pound/hash key (#) on your phone while listening to a message from the sender you wish to block. You can also send us an email.

3. I missed the call from my favorite band. How can I listen to the message?

If you got a text message, call the number in the message to listen. If you missed a phone call from us, just call back the missed call number to listen.

4. How do I skip a message, replay a previous message or record a reply?
• To skip a message, press 6
• To replay a message, press 4
• To record a reply, press 2

Account Stuff

1. I changed my phone number

Login to your SayNow account, go to the Account tab, and click on the "Edit Your Account" button.

2. I created my account and seem to have lost my password. How do I reset it?

3. Can I place my badge on multiple sites?

Yep, absolutely. It should work from anywhere on the internet.

4. Something went wrong while I was using the SayNow service. How do I report errors?

Email us with a description of what you were trying to do and what actually happened.
